A very heavy duty edge gluer with a slat bed type construction for high production gluing applications. The slat bed design allows for material to be loading during the curing cycle. One the cure cycle is timed out the top platen is raised and the slat be conveyor which extends through the machine and out to the load area feeds the next load into the press area and simultaneously discharges the cured load. The machine will feature hydraulic side pressure, pneumatic top pressure and 150 or 200 kW RfsProtech free standing generator to rapidly cure the glue lines. A S7 Siemens PLC with an OP7 operator screen permits efficient operation, and the included press diagnostics screens assist in troubleshooting when the need arises.

- Curing capacity is (52") 1320mm wide x (240") 6100mm x (6") 152 mm thick. The clamping length is 6100mm with no step gluing. The shortest length will be 3000 mm and is to be centered in the press
- The press frame will be computer designed to minimize deflection under load and for long machine life.
- The slat conveyor passes through the press and will include the lay-up area of the gluer. The in-feed area is an extension of the slat conveyor and will have a lay-up area of 1320 mm x 1000 mm.
- Top pressure will be applied by ten (10) 381 mm diameter Air Actuators for quick cycling and to insure precise panel flatness.
- Removable top platen electrode – slides out of the press for easy cleaning of PVA glues.
- Edge pressure (6100mm) is applied by a single solid bar connected to ten (10) 101.6 mm bore. The zero line will be on the left side when looking in the direction of feed, hydraulic cylinders will be on right side. Hydraulic pumps will be from Vickers with Parker cylinders mounted on 640 mm centers.
- Height of the side pressure cylinders will accommodate 30mm to 152mm thickness lumber.
- The slat chain will be heavy duty with cold rolled steel slats and will have close centered supports for minimum deflection.
- The conveyor drive, which is powered by a heavy duty, three phase motor, will utilize an inverter control for smooth starting and stopping to minimize stock disorientation.
- Material handling will be in front and behind the press. This will be provided by another vendor. The loading will start when a signal is given from the material handling system located in front and behind the press. A load must be present on the infeed and no load should be present on the out feed side of the press. Pass line height on conveyor infeed and out feed of the machine is 900 mm with + - 25 mm tolerance for adjusting.
- All necessary pneumatic plumbing including filters and regulators are included.
- A 150 kW water cooled Radio Frequency Generator with an all aluminum cabinet for superior conductivity and performance which will be mounted on floor level. A closed loop water cooling system with circulating pump, makeup tank and a water to air heat exchanger is supplied. This Radio Frequency Generator allows curing of approximately 9.67m/sq. of glue line area per minute. The generator will have solid state rectifiers, arc suppression, and plate overload circuitry for dependability and efficiency.
- Motorized, automatic tuning of the variable matches the output of the generator to the required load.
- A high voltage selector switch mounted in the generator cabinet to allow easy switching of the operating voltage of the generator. This allows three different voltage ranges to be selected depending upon the thickness of the stock being glued. The switch will be easily accessible on the front panel of the generator
- Automatic curing feature that utilizes the PLC in the press to determine when the glue lines are cured completely and then stops the press regardless of the timer setting. Insures that boards will be properly cured and eliminates operator input. The press will still feature the standard timer which can be enabled by a switch.
- All the doors on the generator will feature electrical safety interlocks to stop the Radio Frequency Generator operation if a door is opened. In addition both the press and generator will be properly shielded for operator safety.
- An interface panel will be mounted in the operator’s console. This feature will display machine status, diagnostics, and allow certain PLC functions to be reprogrammed as needed. Complete with a digital display unit, all wiring, hardware, software, and programming.
- Plate and control circuit over current protection is included. A service disconnect is not included but is required for safety.
- The machine is wired for 480 volt, three phases, and 60 cycles. Other voltages are optional, please specify.
- Components used on the press will be: Pneumatic, Festo. Hydraulic, Vickers with pumps and Parker with cylinders. Frequency Drives, ABB. Electrical motor starters and breakers, ABB. Gear Boxes and motors, SEW Eurodrive. Bearings, SKF. Top platen pneumatics, Firestone.
- The equipment will be designed, built, and certified to meet CE standards and with CE label.
